A conman who swindled a 90-year-old couple out of £650 remains on the loose and now Sutton police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the crime.

The elderly couple were tricked into giving over the money after the criminal knocked at their Woodmansterne Road home in Carshalton on Friday, May 15 at about 11am.

He told them he would remove 26 bags of garden rubbish and repair their side guttering, which it did not need to be fixed, before asking the couple to drive him to a post office, and then a bank, to make separate cash withdrawals in order to pay.

A spokesman for Sutton police said: "Having pocketed £650, the suspect said he would return to do the work.

"He failed to return."
