Fund-raisers are cycling about 400 miles through four countries in memory of a former co-worker.

Workers at Sutton-based company Subsea 7 will ride though England, the Netherlands, Belgium and France in memory of Nigel Walsh, who died of prostate cancer two years ago.

Cyclists on the Walsh Ride left their Quadrant House base earlier today and have raised £3,286 out of a target of £4,000 with all money raised going towards the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Organiser David Snowball, 29, said that months of training had gone into the four-day ride, but that he was more than up for the challenge.

He said: "There were a lot of hours put in to this and winter training to grind through, but now that it's here we're all ready for it.

"It's going to be a tough few days, but I'm ready for it.

"Just don't expect us to cycle back from Paris."

They expect to arrive in Paris on Saturday, June 6.
