The leader of airplane-fueled, overcrowded, Kingston had the cheek to ask why anyone would want to live in Sutton.

Surely this is not the same Sutton that is one of the best places in the country to live, work and raise a family?

Seems so.

In return we decided to look at 10 reasons why Sutton is infinitely better than its neighbours to the west.

1) Fewer tower blocks

Your Local Guardian:

Even Kingston's local newspaper the Surrey Comet splashes on the borough's sky-scraping doom

2) Nonsuch Park

Your Local Guardian:

Richmond Park is in Richmond, Wimbledon Common is in Wimbledon, we've got Nonsuch Park, Kingston has Fairfield Rec. No further questions your honour.

3) Lower council Tax

Your Local Guardian:

Council tax in Kingston starts at £919.31 with band D charges coming in at £1378.97, while in Sutton it's only £775.73 and £1163.60 respectively. Plus in Sutton you can live in Beddington's Zero Energy Development (BedZed geddit) while in Kingston its more tower blocks.

4) Best schools in the country

Your Local Guardian:

You move to an area, you want good schools for your kids. Sutton's consistently rank among the best in the country.

5) Better football team

Your Local Guardian:

Sutton Utd > Kingstonian

6) More Olympic heroes

Your Local Guardian:

Sutton's Joanna Rowsell and David Weir both brought home gold for Blighty at the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Kingston? Nobody, and if they did then I've never heard of them.

7) World-class cancer hospital

Your Local Guardian:

Sutton leads the fight against one of the world's biggest killers.

8) Super celebs

Your Local Guardian:

Sporting champions James Hunt (formula one) and Martin "Wolfie" Adams (darts) to science, David Bellamy, via the artistic delights of singer Katie Melua and pun-king Tim Vine, Sutton has the 'sleb market cornered.

9) More efficient one-way system

Your Local Guardian:

Kingston's one way system isn't a road, it's a crazy seat-of-your pants race through nightclub hell.

10) This

Your Local Guardian:

Somebody in Kingston's council thought this was a good idea.

What the borough says:

Councillor Ruth Dombey, leader of Sutton Council said: "Survey after survey keeps putting Sutton as the area people want to live in.

"Rightmove says we are the third highest local authority in the country for the speed of house sales; a recent Family Hotspots Report found all three Sutton postcodes ranked in the top 10 places in London for families to live; and a Mori survey in 2013 found that 91 per cent of people are satisfied with the area.

"As a result, property prices are growing at twice the national average.

"We have some of the best schools and green spaces in the country, we are the second safest borough in London and best of all we have wonderful communities in Sutton who really care for one another.

"No wonder people want to move here."
