The sun was shining on Carshalton as the village transformed into a seaside resort at the weekend.
The first annual Carshalton-on-Sea festival, centred around Honeywood Museum and Carshalton Ponds, included live performance, workshops, market stalls and even fake beaches as organisers looked to bring a taste of the sea to Sutton.
It was part-funded by a neighbourhood grant to the Friends of Honeywood Museum via Sutton Council through the Carshalton and Clockhouse Area Committee and from local businesses.

Jane Howard, curator at Honeywood, said: “There was a really big turnout. I think one of the most pleasing things was seeing people arrive on the Saturday, and then return again for more activities on the Sunday. We're still yet to formally sit down and run through how it all went, but I definitely think we will be looking at doing it again.”
This coming Saturday and Sunday the museum is hosting a model railway weekend, free to enter, from 10am to 5pm daily.
