More than 500 young athletes are expected to descend on Trinity School in Croydon this weekend for their annual Trinity triathlon.

The event, being held on Sunday, was originally created in the run up to the London 2012 and numbers taking part have grown each year from the 140 who first competed on bikes, in running shoes and in the water.

Volunteers from the School community and Crystal Palace Triathlon Club, the event mentors, will ensure a smooth running event, as will the pre-planned road closure by TFL for the cycling event.

Rob Brookman, the event director, said: “I am very excited at the thought of welcoming all Trinity triathlon participants.

"The triathlon is now in its fifth year and attracting more competitors than ever, including many children for whom this will be their first triathlon, in the true spirit of the Olympic legacy which inspired it.”

The competition is open to children aged eight to 19-years-old.
