A man has been taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting after crashing into a lamppost.

The London Air Ambulance landed in Hamilton Avenue recreation ground after the cyclist, believed to be aged between 30 and 40, hit the pillar in Gander Green Lane, at about 8.30pm on Tuesday, June 30.

The air ambulance was in the park for about an hour with the cyclist, a man, later being taken to the major trauma centre by road.

A spokesman for Sutton police said: "Police arrived to find a cyclist aged 30-40 had collided with a lamppost.

"No other vehicles were involved.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital where he is being treated for a neck fracture."
