The RSPCA is appealing for the owner of a 'sweet little' pygmy goat found roaming Carshalton to come forward.

A passer-by found the light-brown female, now named Ruby, as she was wandering in a green area near Thornton Road, Carshalton, on Sunday, June 28.

The passer-by took the goat home overnight before calling the RSPCA.

Ruby has no ear tags and had not been micro chipped, but had been described as being in good condition and looks as if she has been well cared for.

RSPCA inspector Natasha Wallis said: "We think this sweet little goat is probably an escapee from a nearby garden.

"We can't say for sure that she wasn't abandoned - but she appears to be well cared for so the likely scenario is that she is a pet who went for a bit of a wander and got herself lost.

"Unfortunately though, there is no microchip or tag to identify her, and we have not been able to trace her origins from any nearby farms.

"This story also serves as a bit of a reminder to all owners about how vital it is for people to get their pets micro chipped.  It really is the best way to improve the chances of being reunited with them should they become lost or even stolen."

If you recognise Ruby, or have any information where she might have come from, call the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
