A cap adorned with World War 1 badges has been found in a park.

Wendy Hudson was taking her grandchildren to play in Cheam Park on Friday June 19 at about 3.30pm when she saw the bright red cap sitting on top of excerise equipment near the former cafe.

Carrying badges paying tribute to those who died during the Great War, and particularly the Battle of the Somme, Mrs Hudson scoured the area to try and locate the owner but after an hour was unsuccessful.

She has since tried the police and various internet forums but with no success.

She said: "I'm sure it has real importance to its owner. I've tried everything so I really hope the Sutton Guardian can help."
