A BMW crashed into a tree and ended up on its side in the middle of a road early this morning.
The accident happened on London Road, Ewell, by Nonsuch Park, opposite the junction with Briarwood Road, just before 2.30am.
A police spokesman said the silver BMW X5 left the road and hit a tree before overturning and coming to a stop in the carriageway.
A number of men were then reported as getting out of the car and running away.
The road was reopened shortly after 3am.
