Great Britain U21 international Olivia Chilton has revealed becoming part of the Surbiton's invincibles is an opportunity she relishes.

The 20-year-old former Reed's School student will join the WHL Premier Division and Women's Cup champions for the forthcoming campaign from top flight rivals the University of Birmingham.

Chilton, who started her career at Teddington Hockey Club in the South Club's Women's Hockey League, was in the GB team that won bronze at the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney.

She was also a member of the England U21 team that finished fourth at the World Cup in the same year in Moenchengladbach, losing on penalty strokes to India in the bronze medal match.

Chilton, who has played for England at U16, U18 and U21 levels, has been a member of two BUCS final winning teams, and helped her university’s first team become established in the Premier Division.

“I am so proud to be joining SHC and I'm really looking forward to the season ahead," she said.

"Surbiton have an enviable record and I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to help contribute to it.”

Surbiton head coach Brett Garrard added: “Olivia’s experience of playing in the top flight of English hockey, plus her junior international experience with both England and Great Britain will help us as we aim to once again defend our domestic league and cup titles, and challenge in Europe.”

The news comes a week after Surbiton signed Scotland international Robyn Collins from WHL Premier Division rivals Beeston.
