Teddington Swimming Club may not have won any medals at the British Summer Championships, but the experience will stand them in good stead for next year.

Nine swimmers made the trip to Ponds Forge in Sheffield, competing across 19 events over six days of action.

Club coach Gina Heyn, swimming in the ladies’ 19 and over age group, made the final in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events finishing fifth in both – the 31-year-old also finished 12th in the 50m freestyle.

Thirteen-year-old Sophie Fussell reached the final of the 50m and 100m breaststroke in the girls’ combined 13/14 age group.

She finished fifth over 50m - first in her own age group - but was forced to withdraw from the 100m final due to injury.

Anna Smail, 13, swimming in the girls’ combined 13/14 age group, swam a new best time of 28.13 seconds in the 50m freestyle finishing 11th - second in her own age group.

Smail also finished 14th in the 100m and 200m freestyle events - third and second in her own age group respectively.

Zoe Bozzard-Hill, 18, was in action in the ladies’ 19 and over age group finishing 11th in the 50m freestyle, just missing out on a final place.

In the girls’ 15-year-old age group, Alice Smail, 14, finished 12th in the 50m Butterfly, while Sophie Johnson, 14, finished 14th in the 50m butterfly and 18th in the 50m freestyle.

Fourteen-year-old Thalia Poaros finished 14th in 200m butterfly, 17th in the 400m freestyle, 21st in the 200m freestyle and 21st in the 100m butterfly in the 13/14-year-old age group.

Oliver Hall, 18, was swimming in the men’s combined 17/18-year-old age group and he matched his best time to finish 18th in the 50m breaststroke, while James Adams, 22, finished 18th in the 50m breaststroke swimming in the men’s 19 and over age group.
