A pensioner who exposed himself outside a Sutton school during the day has been spared jail.

Allan Gascoigne, 65, was spotted by two women on February 13 as he exposed himself in an alleyway alongside the school, which cannot be named for legal reasons.

The two women challenged Gascoigne and followed him as he left the area, until police arrived and arrested him.

Gascoigne, who lives in Alexandra Gardens, Carshalton, initially told police he was urinating after returning from a shopping trip on the bus.

Gascoigne was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 24 months, at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday after admitting guilt.

He was also ordered to pay £775 in costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
