Police found a man walking on the M25 near Clacket Services in the early hours this morning.

Surrey Police tweeted just after 4.30am the man had been arrested near the junction to Caterham.

It is thought he is from Afghanistan and had "entered the UK illegally in an HGV".

In recent months police have regularly arrested people on suspicion of illegal entry at service stations along the M25.

A Freedom of Information request submitted by the Elmbridge Comet revealed between August 2014 and August 2015, 106 men and 11 women had been found and arrested on suspicion of illegal entry into the UK at Cobham services.
