Prince William in Sutton: Did you spot the Duke?

The Duke of Cambridge visited The Royal Marsden Hospital earlier today.

During his visit the Prince heard about the latest breakthroughs in cancer research and spoke to patients involved in clinical trials.

Last month the Sutton Guardian reported that a world-first trial treatment that burns away cancer pain had taken place.

Professor Mitch Dowsett, Head of the Centre for Molecular Pathology, who escorted the Duke on this part of his visit, said: "It was a privilege to show HRH The Duke of Cambridge around our Centre today.

"He showed great interest in our research facilities and the work that we do here to make a difference to patients today and to improve treatment outcomes for patients, longer term.

"We showed the Duke how we use state-of-the-art sequencing technology to identify mutations in DNA that are responsible for the development of cancer, ensuring that patients can be placed on the correct cancer treatment or clinical trial."

Prince William also visited the histopathology and molecular diagnostics units, and the Cancer Biobank.
