Two Sutton parks have been nominated for the UK’s best park award.

Beddington Park in Beddington and Nonsuch Park in Sutton have been nominated by members of the public for the prestigious title, which is open for public votes until 5pm on Wednesday.

Beddington Park has a children's play area, BBQ's, tennis court, cafe, walking trails, a wildlife centre and a church in the grounds.

Nonsuch Park boasts open spaces for families, runners and dog walkers, a children’s play area, a café and it once housed one of Henry VIII’s palaces.

They are up against 34 other parks in London and east England in the Fields in Trust competition.

The three parks with the most votes will then be shortlisted with the winning park announced at the Fields in Trust Awards Ceremony at Lord's Cricket Ground on December 2.

The Trust is the only national charity that protects the parks, playing fields and playgrounds.

It was founded in 1925 by King George V and currently protects over 2,500 recreational sites from development.
