At the beginning of the year, the Surrey Comet ran a weekly feature that opened the door to the murky world that some of our sporting stars may preferred were kept firmly shut.

It was of course, First Time for Everything… and here are some of the best answers:

First time you got drunk
Former Sutton & Epsom RFC head coach Jeff Parsons

"I was 15 and drank too much white wine at a house party. My parents picked me and then watched me throw up on the kerb – they found it highly amusing.

"My mum has been around rugby clubs all her life, so it was nothing she had not seen before – she’s a real Peggy Mitchell character."

First bedroom wall pin up
Former Battersea Ironsides RFC skipper Colin O’Keeffe

"Anna Kournikova – fantastic. It was the eyes, but in reality I was a massive tennis fan.

"I take my wife to Wimbledon every year to watch the tennis... but then again, she likes Rafa Nadal."

Your Local Guardian:

Sure Colin, it's eyes....

First memory of an FA Cup final
Sutton United manager Paul Doswell

"It was West Ham v Fulham in 1975 when Bobby Moore played for Fulham and they had Peter Mellor in goal.

"But it is Man Utd v Saints in 76 that sticks in the mind, I was one of those kids who would turn the TV on at 9am and not move until the game was over.

"You had to watch it on BBC – I did not like the adverts on ITV."

First date
AFC Wimbledon midfielder Dannie Bulman

"I was a bit of a boy back in the day, but I think my first date was probably at the cinema. Most dates back then were at the cinema.

"The good thing about the cinema is that you do not have to talk to each other."

Your Local Guardian:

Let's hope for Bulman's sake it went better than this at the cinema

First lads' holiday
Kingstonian boss Tommy Williams

"I went to Kavos with some school friends. I was 16 or 17. I cannot hold my drink now and back then I was even worse.

"I remember one night walking into a bar, having cocktails, crawling home and being sick all day the following day."

First car
Boxer Lenny Daws

"I had a Metro, as soon as I passed my test at 17. I did it up, I blacked the windows out, alloys, big exhaust out the back, halogen lamps – had the music blaring out.

"I loved that little car."

First goal
AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley

"Good question. I cannot remember my first ever goal, but I can remember my first senior goal for Wimbledon.

"It was a flick on from John Fashanu at home to Blackburn Rovers in 1992, which I vollied into the bottom corner, but it was swiftly equalised by a young Alan Shearer (the game finished 1-1).

"I was quickly swarmed by the players, my dad has a photo of it, and when you’ve got Fash, Vinny Jones and Dean Holdsworth on your back you cannot forget that."
