UPDATE: Man, 54, dies after being hit by train at Hampton Wick

A man died this morning after being hit by a train at Hampton Wick station. 

Paramedics were called at 7.36am to reports of a person under a train, a London Ambulance Service spokesman said. 

He added: "Sadly, the patient was dead at the scene." 

 

FEBRUARY

Update: Council since confirms people approaching students were in fact employees

Kingston and Richmond’s children’s services have warned schools about a man approaching students claiming to be "from the council" and asking them to get in his van. 

Schools sent an email to parents on Tuesday after the warning from Achieving for Children. 

It read: "Three students were stopped in the Old Malden area, on Monday February 23 at around 3.30pm by a man in a white van purporting to be from the council.

Complaints over elderly men in tennis skirts 'having Sunday sex sessions' in park

A Sunday walk with three young children turned into a "disgusting state of affairs".

Dean Smallhatch wrote in to complain about indecent actions he saw while strolling in Desborough Island, Weybridge.

Mr Smallhatch was out with his children aged four, five and seven on Sunday, February 1, at about 2.30pm on a path leading off Walton Lane.

He said: "Out in front of us, the path opened up and three elderly men, in their 70s to 80s, were dressed in female clothing, namely tennis skirts, and they were engaging in sexual activity."

Isabella Plantation, Richmond Park, closed after man found hanged

A man was found hanged in Isabella Plantation this morning. 

Police were called at 8.10am and attended the plantation, in Richmond Park, shortly after. 

The plantation, a renowned beauty spot in the popular royal park, was cordoned off by police. 

 

MAY

Fifteen police raid Thai massage parlour

Your Local Guardian:

A "police raid" on a Thai massage parlour in Strawberry Hill was just to check the staff were eligible to work in the UK, said the salon’s management. 

A man, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he saw "about 15" policemen enter the Baan Thai Massage in Wellesley Parade at about 11am today but said it appeared they had not found what they were looking for. 

He said: "I don’t know what they were looking for." 


JUNE

Extreme road rage driver identified as master butcher and owner of upmarket Putney, Clapham, Wimbledon and Wandsworth cafes

A driver caught on camera in an expletive ridden outburst against a cyclist has been named as a south west London master butcher. 

Earlier today, we published a video which showed the foul-mouthed four minute tirade between a cyclist and driver in Priory Lane, Roehampton, on March 14 this year. 

Both sides swear at each other but the driver of the Land Rover is captured on camera losing the plot. 

 

JULY

A scaffolder has admitted having sex with a child after reversing his plea on the day his trial was set to start. 

Joshua Dubey, 23, had been due to stand trial at Kingston Crown Court today having previously denied allegations of having sex with a 15-year-old girl, as well as blackmail. 

But the scaffolder, who lives in Jubilee Close, Hampton Wick, admitted three counts of having sex with the schoolgirl and making unwarranted demands for money from her between 2010 and 2011. 


AUGUST

Woman pulled from river at Teddington Lock dies

A woman, pulled from the River Thames at Teddington Lock by the RNLI and London Air Ambulance on Saturday morning, died despite the rescue efforts of emergency crews. 

The London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called at 10.52am and sent an ambulance crew, car responder and air ambulance. 

The woman, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene. 


SEPTEMBER

UPDATE: Dead body found hanging from bridge above A316

Your Local Guardian:

A dead body has been found hanging from a bridge in "unexplained" circumstances above the A316 this morning. 

UPDATE: "Our lives will never be the same": Son pays tribute to tragic A316 death man.

The man, in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene on the North Sheen/Kew border, close to Richmond fire station. 

 

OCTOBER

Stab attack in Staines Road Twickenham: Two men in hospital, another arrested

Your Local Guardian:

Two men are in hospital with stab wounds after an early morning attack. 
Staines Road, Twickenham, was closed after the 4.10am double stabbing which left two men, whose ages are unknown, with hand and head injuries. 

A third man has been arrested and is in police custody. The injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. 

Local rumours that a man had been shot dead were denied by police.

 

NOVEMBER

Hippo spotted in Teddington's Bushy Park

Your Local Guardian:

Africa's most dangerous animal has been spotted swimming through the mist in Bushy Park's boating pond. 

The hippopotamus, typically native to sub-Saharan Africa, is fast becoming Teddington's answer to the Loch Ness monster, having been spotted floating through the pond on several occasions. 

 

DECEMBER

"Machine gun", drugs and cash seized by police at Twickenham Riverside

Your Local Guardian:

A "machine gun", drugs and cash were seized from two men who were arrested near Twickenham Riverside this morning.

Officers executed a drugs warrant in Seymour Gardens early this morning and found a “machine gun style weapon”, cannabis, white powder and two canisters of CS tear gas spray.

The weapon is being examined to see if it is capable of firing, according to a police spokesman.
