Christmas is known as the season of goodwill, but it appears Leap Day has a similar influence on generosity in Sutton.
An anonymous benefactor brightened motorists’ day by offering up change to help pay for their parking – and encouraging others to copy the gesture.
A bag full of change and accompanying note was spotted by Sally Byrne this morning stuck to a ticket machine in a Wallington car park.
It comes following an online campaign, using the hashtag #LeapDaveLove2016, calling on people to use their extra day today to perform random acts.
The note on the ticket machine reads: "Please take some change to help pay from your parking #LeapDayLove2016 @LeapDayLove2016."
The kind gesture earned plaudits on Facebook.
Tara Short wrote: "Wish I put my change in there instead of the machine as it was a wasted trip. Well done to the kind person who did that."
Anita Stephenson agreed and added: "So lovely, especially those that do these random acts of kindness."
