A Sutton man was arrested after a group of men fled the scene of a car crash in Epsom last week.
A white Daewoo Lanos crashed into a post box in Alexandra Road, Epsom, just before 11pm on Thursday, April 28.
Members of the public reported to the police that a group of men had got out of the car and ran away.
A 21-year-old man from Sutton was arrested on suspicion of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance and possession of cannabis.
He has been released on bail until May 26.
A spokesman for Surrey Police said: “Police carried out a search of the surrounding area and a short time later stopped a group of men.
“Officers subsequently arrested a 21-year-old man from Sutton.
“Enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision continue.”
