Mitcham is gearing up for its annual carnival, with a fun fair, dog show, Zorb football, a children’s disco and main stage featuring British Empire Wrestling and Stavros Flatley.

Wimbledon Times:

There will be up to 100 stalls for people to browse, packed with an array of food and drink as well as displays from local charities and businesses set up on Three Kings Piece in Commonside West, Mitcham, between noon and 5pm Saturday, June 11.

Main stage entertainment will run throughout the afternoon, and there will be plenty of activities to keep children and adults alike occupied.

Sports Blast, an initiative that looks to promote healthy living for young people in the borough, will be offering children the chance to play football, netball, BMX and other sports throughout the day, a dog show, run by Carnival’s sponsors ‘The Vet’ in Morden and the Bubble Football tournament for players aged 14 will also take place.

Mayor of Merton, Councillor Brenda Fraser said: “I look forward to enjoying another fantastic year at the carnival.

“Mitcham Carnival is always packed full of activities for people of all ages to take part in and have fun. It is a fantastic way to start the summer.”

Cabinet member for community and culture, Nick Draper, said: “The carnival is always a brilliant community event with something to suit everyone.”
