Drug suppliers have been warned to “expect an early morning call” from police after officers raided a home in St Helier yesterday morning.
Police forced entry to the home in Whitby Road, Sutton, at 5am on Tuesday and found a quantity of white powder – suspected to be Class A drugs.
A man, 29, who was inside the address at the time of the drugs warrant, was arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and handling stolen goods.
Driving documents which were not in his name and a quantity of cash was also found and seized along with the suspected drugs
He was taken to a south London police station and the police investigation continues.
The raid was led by St Helier Safer Neighbourhoods Team, which responded to information received for people living nearby.
St Helier Sgt Lee Burgess said: “Earlier this month we carried out a drugs warrant in the area, and these operations will continue.
“Those people who use and supply drugs can expect an early morning call from us.
“We are receiving good information from local communities and we take all such reports seriously and we will investigate them and act on them.
“We want criminals to know we are on their case and the public to know we are on their side – so please let us know if you have any information.
“Drugs tend to fuel crimes such as burglary and thefts from vehicles as criminals need to steal goods to give them the money to feed their drugs habits.
“By disrupting and removing the drugs supply locally police can reduce crime across the borough.”
If you have any information, contact Sutton Police station on 101. If you are suspicious of anyone hanging around near a property or vehicle, or you see a crime being committed, contact police immediately on 999.
