Firefighters called to roof fire at building site near town centre
Firefighters were called to a blaze on a building site near Sutton town centre.
Crews from Sutton were called to reports of a fire in a roof at an address near Crown Road and St Nicholas Way at 9.25 this morning.
A pot of hot tar managed to set a wooden pallet on the site alight, but workmen put out the flames before the crews arrived, a Sutton fire station spokesman said.
The crew then checked the area was safe.
