More than 7,000 people flocked to this year’s Belmont Festival last weekend.

The free event offered crowds a line-up of local musicians, including singer-songwriter Chloe Ray, the Shimmy Sisters, and Sharp at 9 Band from Stanley Park School.

Station Road thronged with market stalls offering everything from chutney to bird tables on Sunday.

The day out in the sunshine kicked off with a procession through Belmont led by the Gary Mason Drummers and the Carshalton Cheerleaders.

Last year’s event raised £16,000 for The Oak Centre for Children and Young People at The Royal Marsden.

And this year money raised will go towards supporting a new clinical trial at the Royal Marsden for children with ependymoma – a type of brain cancer.

Dr Fernando Carceller, senior drug development fellow at the Royal Marsden Hospital, said: “This will help pave the way for better treatments. Your support will make a real difference to our young patients. Thank you very much.”
