A teenager has been taken to hospital with head and pelvic injuries after being struck by a bus in Carshalton.

The 18-year-old was knocked down in High Street, near Westcroft Road, just before 1.45pm today.

Paramedics reportedly treated him at the roadside for more than 45 minute before taking him to a south London hospital.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 1.44pm today, September 15, to reports of a road traffic collision.

“We sent an ambulance crew and a single responder in a car to the scene.

“We treated a patient, a teenage boy, at the scene and took him as a priority to a hospital in south London.”

A witness told the Sutton Guardian: “I have been here for the last 45 minutes, and paramedics have been working on him for a long time.

“It looks very serious.”

Sutton Police were also called to the scene.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police were called at 13:45 hrs by LAS to a report of a road traffic collision outside 118-120, High Street, Carshalton, today.

"Officers arrived to find a bus had been in collision with a teenage male. The male, aged 18, was taken to hospital with suspected pelvic injuries."
