Four teenagers were arrested after police raided six houses in Wallington.

Police in riot gear swooped on Carew Road and five addresses on the Roundshaw estate on Wednesday afternoon.

A 16-year-old boy, who was inside a house in Carew Road at the time, was arrested for possession with intent to supply drugs after officers found six bags of suspected cannabis.

Three men aged in their late teens were also arrested after pulling up outside the house and being stopped and searched by police.

They were found to be in possession of cannabis, cocaine and a metal bar, and were detained on suspicion of drugs possession with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon.

Officers carried out a further five raids on the Roundshaw estate but no arrests were made.

Witness Adam Gunton said: “There was a load of riot police when I went past.

“I saw about five in riot gear, two normal police and two undercover. There was a K-9 car and three grey riot vans all parked along Elgin Road, mostly opposite Geyfords’s old showroom.”

All four of those arrested have been bailed until November pending further enquiries.
