A car wash employee has been caught red-handed pressure washing litter off a Beddington Lane worksite and into the roadside.

The “lazy” man was caught in the act by a passer-by who filmed the shocking act in Julian Hand Car Wash yesterday.

Sutton Council has since been in touch with the company, and warned that the man could be prosecuted if he continues to litter.

Jason Leigh, 42, of Addiscombe, who caught the man on film, and said the worker’s behaviour was unfathomable.

He said: "I don’t understand his thinking. All he’d have to do would be to put on some gloves and pick it up.

"Don’t be so bloody lazy. I mean, doing things like this is totally unacceptable."

A spokesman for the council said the authority had told the company the man’s behaviour was “not acceptable”.

He said: "This incident was reported to us on Thursday by a member of the public.

“We have since visited the premises to explain this behaviour is not acceptable in Sutton.

“Fly-tipping is illegal, and anyone caught in the act may face a fine or prosecution.

“We want to work with residents to send the message that we value our environment, and fly-tipping and littering will not be tolerated in our borough."

The company has been approached for a comment.
