An elderly driver was rushed to hospital after she overturned her car crashing into a bollard outside a primary school in Belmont.
Firefighters pulled the pensioner from the vehicle after flipped over in Avenue Road, near Avenue Primary School, shortly before midday today.
She has been rushed to a south London hospital.
One witness said: “I got there just after the accident, and was told that an old woman in her car collided with a bollard.
“Ambulances and fire engines were there super quickly.
“There was a pool of blood.”
Firefighters from Wallington, West Norwood and Wimbledon stations were called to the scene at 11.55am.
A spokeswoman for the London Fire Brigade said: “We were called at 11.54am to a car in collision with street furniture. A car had flipped onto its roof.
“Engines from West Norwood, Wallington and Wimbledon were sent to the scene.”
A firefighter from Wallington fire station confirmed the woman was elderly.
