Firefighters tackled a blaze at a disused building near the Royal Marsden Hospital.
London Fire Brigade sent six fire engines and 35 firefighters to the disused Sutton Hospital site in Cotswald Road, a spokesman confirmed on Twitter.
Firefighters were called at 3.50pm and had successfully put out the fire by 4.38pm.
Part of the ground floor was damaged in the fire. No one was injured.
There are currently plans being discussed to build a school on the site.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
