A bin lorry has knocked over a tree outside the home of a Sutton resident on the same day people have been queuing for hours to collect their new recycling bins.

The tree was knocked over outside the home of Kas Wynn, of The Causeway, Carshalton.

Mrs Wynn, who did not manage to get a bin before they ran out, came home this “very upsetting accident”.

Kas said: “The truck was manoeuvring in The Causeway and caught a limb of the tree in the top of the truck.

“I didn't see it happen but the truck was still beside the tree when we got home and one of the guys explained it to me. They were very sorry.”

Sutton Council and Veolia have been contacted for comment.
