A Veolia waste collection truck has knocked over a lamp post near Cheam Park Farm Primary Academy almost two weeks after another lorry owned by the company brought down a tree.
The lamp post was hit near the Mosley Drive academy earlier today (Thursday, April 20).
Witness Nicola Mepham said: “I live a few doors down and saw it happen. It was a bin lorry, but to be fair he moved to the side to allow a van behind him to get past as there was a removal van opposite.
“The driver only clipped the lamp post slightly, but it was enough to bring the whole thing down.”
It is the latest in a series of bungled incidents to impact on Veolia after the waste management company took over refuse collections on Saturday, April 1.
A bin lorry felled a tree in The Causeway, in Carshalton, on Saturday, April 20, the same day hundreds of resident queued for recycling boxes outside B&Q, in Sutton Court Road.
A Veolia spokeswoman said: "On Thursday 20 April one of our refuse vehicles accidentally hit a lamp column on Molesey Drive.
"No one was injured. We have reported the damaged to the Highways Agency for investigation and repair. Veolia takes health and safety very seriously and we are carrying out a full investigation in to the incident."
