Sutton has today paid tribute to the victims of the suicide bombing which killed at least 22 people -including several children.

The Union Flag above the Civic Centre in central Sutton was lowered to half-staff to respect those who died in the blast following an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena on Monday, May 22.

Some 59 people were also injured when the blast, caused by an improvised devise carried by the attacker, detonated the explosive at about 10.33pm.

Newly-appointed Mayor Jean Crossby called on those who wanted to share their thoughts to sign Manchester City Council’s book of condolences.

A statement on the northern council’s page reads: “This is an absolutely horrifying incident and our thoughts are with everyone affected, especially those who have lost loved ones or been injured and traumatised by the attack at the arena.”
