An armed stop in a quiet Cheam street was not terror-related, police have confirmed.
Residents watched as ‘very heavily armed’ officers swooped on a car in Windsor Avenue yesterday evening (Sunday, June 4).
The swoop at about 7pm came less than 24 hours after a terror attack near London Bridge left seven dead and dozens more injured, prompting fears it might have been related.
But Scotland Yard confirmed it was “not terrorist related”.

The resident, who did not want to be named, told the Sutton Guardian: “They (the police) wouldn’t disclose or confirm anything. They also had their faces covered at all times.
“They stormed in and got them on the floor shouting ‘get down’, whilst pointing their weapons at them.”
