“I just think we are going to go from Sutton to Las Vegas,” said Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams after Wayne Woodward’s audition two years ago.
The swing singer, who finished runner up in Britain’s Got Talent, will release his debut album N.U.M.B this Friday.
The record will feature his new single Animal which can be viewed here
Ahead of the album launch, the bubbly Sutton character said, “Despite Britain’s Got Talent being an absolutely amazing experience and a brilliant way to connect with engaging audiences, I didn’t get a great deal of help after the show. Now I’m back on my own, still fighting for the dream of a number one hit.
“What the show gave me was a lot of very supportive people who now want more. I have been singing every weekend in city halls, philharmonics, weddings and even bars and restaurants trying to get the cash together to give people something they really want to hear.”
‘Animal’ was written by Wayne himself along with songwriter Daniel Spencer.
The entire soundtrack was recorded at Starcity Studios in Sutton.
Producer of the song Jay Picasso said: “I wanted to create the atmosphere of a smoky bar and I wanted Wayne to create such emotions that would break people’s hearts.”
Wayne, still only 22, is now ready for the next chapter of his career and to let the music speak for itself.
“It’s better to be known as Wayne Woodward rather than ‘Britain’s Got Talent’s Wayne Woodward’, and I am releasing my own material to shake off that name and to be recognised for who I truly am.
“Nobody except me ‘owns’ Wayne Woodward. You wanted an album, you will have one. So for now, I introduce you to Animal, the opening song.”
