A rare albino squirrel has been spotted nibbling on a nut in Worcester Park

Only one in 100,000 squirrels are born all white, according to wildlife experts.

This little rarity was spotted eating in Trafalgar Avenue, Worcester Park last Friday (June 23) by a Mrs Chan, who e-mailed the pictures to Sutton Guardian.

White squirrels with black eyes have a mutated gene called leucism which turns their fur white but their black eyes are maintained.

They don’t endure the eye problems that pink eyed albino squirrels, like the one spotted in Worcester Park, suffer.
