Three housing schemes in Sutton have been provided with £180,000 worth of fire safety funding by the London Fire Brigade.

The Borough’s most vulnerable sheltered residents live in the three housing schemes, according to a Sutton Council statement.

Fire sprinkler systems have been installed in 37 homes as part of the new funding.

Better Contacts, a partnership between the London Fire Brigade and Sutton Council, established the project that trains fire-service men and women to offer services to residents.

“We have always believed in looking after some of the most vulnerable people in the Borough and keeping them safe,” Ruth Dombey, leader of the Liberal Democrat-run Sutton Council, said.

“The 180,000 worth of funding will enable us to install fire safety measures in people’s homes.”
