Veolia has been collecting more recycling waste in the borough recently, according to the waste removal firm.
A spokesperson told Sutton Guardian: "We are collecting significantly increased amounts of recycling and would like to thank residents for their help in making this possible.
“We apologise to anyone whose collection has been missed and will work hard to resolve these issues promptly.”
An elderly resident told Sutton Guardian that Veolia phones lines were no longer working and that she couldn’t get through to tell them to explain that her bins were not being collected.
Asked about this, Veolia said: “The best way of reporting missed collections is via the Sutton Council website.”
On April 1 Veolia took over bin collections from Sutton Council.
A social media hashtag of #SuttonBinShame has circulated ever since as residents continue to complain that their bins are not being consistently collected.
