One of Sutton’s most historic buildings will re-open in 2018 after undergoing a £1.5 million revamp.
Whitehall Museum, located on Malden Road in Cheam, secured the grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop the Tudor building in 2015.
The historic building is believed to have been built around 1500.
A local history network to learn and discuss about the surrounding area will be introduced as well as a project called ‘The Locals’ focusing on the Friends of Whitehall commemerating their 40th anniversary.
A programme of events and activities for children, families and the local community will be revealed before the re-opening next summer.
The redevelopment will include the implementation of a new lift and stairs to improve accessibility, particularly for the disabled.
