Wallington North Police have issued a warning to people who have been illegally fishing at Elm Ponds.
They said fishers could be fined up to £50,000 if they were caught fishing at the pond located on London Road.
A statement read: “A lot of hard work from residents and the council has gone into keeping Wallington Park areas looking beautiful. We have recently had reports of people fishing at Elm Ponds, there are fishing byelaws in place prohibiting this.
“Anyone failing to comply with these byelaws could face prosecution and receive a fine of up to £50,000. A little reminder for those who enjoy a drink in the sunshine Sutton Park and open green spaces are also designated public places.”
