Smiling faces, enthusiastic students and cake greeted visitors to Quadrant House in Sutton today as teenagers from a special education academy launched a new podcast.

‘Pod Radio’ will cover topics from movies to video games to news and current affairs.

Students from Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust’s Digital School (OHC&AT) will record shows every Tuesday.

Special guests have been lined up for the podcast including European journalist and best-selling author, Graham Hunter and producer and broadcaster, Ben Green.

One of the student presenters, Abigail Adams, said: “I love being part of Pod Radio. I get to play some of my favourite music and my friends can listen to our podcasts.”

Simon Gale, creative director for the Digital School at OHC&AT, added: “The students’ have done a great job and already caught the eye of some celebrity podcasters.

“It is great to get this kind of support from such gurus in the podcasting world.”

Principal of OHC&AT, Dr Caroline Allen, discussed the success of the launch.

She said: “What a great day for our students and Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust, this is exactly why we set up the Digital School.

“I am so proud of the team for launching yet another forward thinking and innovative product run by our students who have been involved from the initial concept and are now broadcasting.”
