A woman who has worked in retail since she was a teenager has achieved a life-long dream of opening a Victorian inspired shop.

Timea Gyori, 38, officially opened Victorian Lady on Woodcote Road on Tuesday (October 24).

“It has been my childhood dream,” the Wallington resident of five years told Sutton Guardian. “I love the Victorian era and I wanted to combine a hobby with work.

“I love the clothes and the lifestyle. When I was growing up I tried to recreate Victorian recipes and things like that.”

Over 200 second hand dresses - or pre-loved dresses - as Timea says, are in the shop which also stocks antiques, collectables, candles, wooden toys, wedding boxes and jewellery.

She added: “I love to serve the community as much as possible. The people here are very nice and they are excited about the shop.

“They have been very curious and supporting and they keep coming in. Customers seem to like what I’m doing.”

Timea enjoys wearing Victorian clothes as she works as well as dressing up with her two children, aged nine and five.

She was previously employed by IKEA for five years before starting her own business.

A Halloween wedding dress is being sold in store for £30 as a special opening offer.
