A new care home located near St Helier Hospital could open in future if Sutton Council grants a recently submitted planning application.

The Ashling Tara Hotel on Rose Hill would be transitioned into a care home if proposals are accepted.

There are currently 11 rooms for hotel guests with the owner requesting to turn them into care home bedrooms.

A spokesman for the hotel told Sutton Guardian: “The local area is in high demand for a new care home.

“The hotel has been here for over 20 years and obviously we would be sad to see it go but the market in Sutton needs more care facilities.”

St Helier Hospital is less than a mile away from the planned new care home.

An ageing population in Sutton was another reason why the hotel owner wants to change its use.

All rooms in the care home would have an en suite and a shower space.

A small lounge area is situated on the first floor.

The premises can be found at the junction of Rose Hill and Rose Hill Avenue adjacent to Sutton Common.
