A woman who slapped a police officer across the face before kicking them in the shin and genitals on New Year’s Day has been cautioned.

Police were called to reports of grievous bodily harm at a Wandsworth pub on January 1, before the officer spoke to a witness about the incident.

It is one of several incidents which occurred in the borough between Christmas and New Year’s Day.

A female officer was bitten on the hand while guarding a prisoner at a hospital guard on December 27, with the prisoner later being sectioned. The police officer suffered a swollen finger but no bruising.

On the same day a male officer received a ‘minor’ injury after detaining a man who fled from police. Wandsworth Police said they later found the man with a Stanley knife and a kebab knife.

A male officer received bruising on his hand while attempting to restrain a prisoner under hospital guard who attempted to escape on December 28.

Drugs arrests were also made by Wandsworth’s Furzedown police unit at the end of the month as two men, aged 25 and 22, were both arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs, and have since been interviewed before being released while enquiries continue.

A 27-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property and later arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.

A Met Police spokeswoman has said enquiries are ongoing.
