A Carshalton secondary school has joined an all-girls multi-academy trust, it has been announced.
Carshalton High School for Girls, in West Street, will now be under the remit of the Girls’ Learning Trust (GLT) which was founded in September 2015.
The multi-academy trust also oversees Nonsuch High School for Girls, in Ewell Road, and Wallington High School for Girls in Woodcote Road.
Vivienne Jones, Carshalton High School for Girls’ headteacher, said: “We are delighted to join GLT and look forward to the shared opportunities it can bring for students and staff alike.
“The GLT has a clear vision that aligns with our core aims and we welcome the added strength it will bring to the development of our students and the very positive contribution that we can make to the trust.”
GLT was previously the Nonsuch and Wallington Educational Trust (NWET) before it was switched to its current name.
Nonsuch High School for Girls and Wallington High School for Girls, who both converted into academies in 2012, merged together to form the multi-academy trust that now runs both of them almost three years ago.
Jane Burton, GLT’s chief executive, said: “All our schools share many common characteristics and are held in high regard in the community.
“Remaining focused on all-girls education allows us to provide the very best opportunities for the young women we educate both inside and outside the classroom.”
