A new African and British artisan deli is now officially open for business in Cheam.

Inyama’s, in High Street, opened on May 30 by the new Mayor of Sutton councillor Steve Cook, his wife Pauline, and owners Glenn and Robyn Sinclair.

The new restaurant will have an instore butcher that provides a range of African and British meats alongside a selection of cakes, jams, and sauces.

In a post on Facebook on the day, the owners said: “Well we’ve done it and we’re now open!

“I want to say a special thank you to Mr and Mrs Mayor of Sutton [Steve and Pauline Cook] for their time tonight and for officially opening our shop.

“An extra big thanks to Lucy, from Cheam Life, who has been an asset to us while setting up.

“Without her kindness and bag of amazing contacts we’d be lost.”

Video footage shows Cllr Cook opening the new deli at its official opening.

Inyama’s is said to be the ‘brainchild’ of the owners, who moved to the UK from South Africa 12 years ago.

Mrs Sinclair added: “We have two children and we want Inyama’s to become part of the local community and a place where people can come and take part in activities and tastings and also bring us their ideas.

“We have worked really hard to bring together what we hope is a great range of products from Britain and southern Africa but we’re definitely interest to know what our customers would like to see.”

Crisps, cheese grillers, sausages, kebabs, and more are available in the new restaurant, according to its official Facebook page.

Inyama's address is 40 High Street, Cheam Village, SM3 8RW.

The restaurant's opening hours are from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday, while it is closed on Sundays.
