Work has begun on the first new council houses to be built in Sutton for 30 years.

The council is building 93 new homes across three sites in the borough.

A mix of one, two and three-bedroom houses and flats will be in Alcester Road in Wallington, Fellowes Road in Carshalton, and Richmond Green in Beddington.

There is a chance for residents to meet representatives from Sutton Council and the contractor Kind and Company on July 6 at 2pm.

The event will take place at Richmond Green and give the chance to see how work is coming along.

Cllr Jayne McCoy, the council's deputy leader, said: “We welcome residents to come along and see the progress being made at one of the key developments, marking a major step forward for the council in providing new affordable homes for local residents.”

The event will take place on the green between the River Wandle and the new development and there will be refreshments on offer.
