A new Domino’s Pizza store could be opening in Carshalton if plans submitted to Sutton Council are approved.

The pizza restaurant chain wants to open a new branch in the High Street, according to planning documents validated on July 18 this week.

They would take over from The Siam Orchid Thai Restaurant, currently operating on the site, and change its use from a restaurant and takeaway to a hot food takeaway.

Osian Roberts, of DPP Planning on behalf of Domino’s, said: “The application proposal will result in the beneficial reuse of a unit which is about to become vacant and is located in a prominent roadside location within the Centre.

“The occupation of the unit by a national multiplier will have several benefits.

“It will create jobs in a sustainable centre location, close to other employment uses and various transport links.

“Furthermore, it will provide an additional service and facility to local residents and businesses, without compromising the retail function of the area.”

It is unknown when a decision will be made on the plans at this stage.
