A Carshalton primary school which has nearly hit full capacity wants to expand to meet requirements.
In 2012, All Saints Carshalton CofE Primary School, in Rotherfield Road, was given permission to expand to become two-form entry, and from this September the school will have two classes in every year group.
The school was built in 1969 and was extended to include more classrooms in 2014.
All Saints now wants to build an ‘infill extension’ to meet government guidelines which state there must be areas for children with SEN and disabilities.
If approved, the extension would provide the school with new group rooms for children with special educational needs (SEN) which would be divided by a folding partition wall.
The extension would be built in front of an existing staircase and between the current Year 2 classroom and SEN group room.
The application was submitted to the borough on July 27 by Wilby and Burnett on behalf of the school.
