The heat has hit London and at full blast this month with some of the hottest temperatures seen this summer.

Some people like to spend their time cooling off by going for a swim, so why not paddle around in some of south London’s best outdoor pools and splash parks?

We have compiled a list of the top 10 we could find so you can spend less time Googling and more time in the water.

This is the list in no particular order.

1. Wavelengths Leisure Centre

Sutton Guardian:

On Griffin Street in Deptford, this is a family-friendly facility that could be an enjoyable destination for your kids.

There are twists and turns in the huge flumes above the pools so you can try something different.

2. Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre

Sutton Guardian:

This one is in Chiswick High Road, just over the River Thames, and caters to a wide range of visitors.

People closer to Hounslow may find this one an ideal place to go.

3. Dulwich Public Baths

Sutton Guardian:

Dulwich Public Baths is thought to be London’s oldest public bath after it first opened in 1892.

It has been around for more than 125 years and is located in Crystal Palace Road.

It comes with a main swimming pool and with changing rooms available too.

4. Brockwell Lido

Sutton Guardian:

This one is a classic for people in south London.

In Brockwell Park, Herne Hill, this is a 49-metre pool which has been around since July 1937 before it was closed in 1990.

Then a public campaign pushing for it to be reopened four years later, in 1994, saw it come back and has been around ever since.

5. Wimbledon Sprinkler Park

A little different to the others on the list.

Wimbledon Splash Park comes with an “interactive splash pad” and six huge paddling pools.

It’s one of several facilities inside Wimbledon Park – which includes football matches, tennis courts, play areas, and crazy golf.

6. North Sheen Paddling Pool

Sutton Guardian:

This one is part of the North Sheen Recreation Ground in Dancer Road, Kew.

It has two extensive playgrounds and intriguing scenery, as well as a children’s paddling pool too.

7. Hampton Pool

Sutton Guardian:

Hampton Pool is said to be one of the very few swimming areas in London that is both heated and open all 365 days of the year.

It was first opened in 1922 and has a big 36m main pool, with two slides, and a small pool for children.

It’s managed by YMCA London South West.

8. Danson Splash Park

Sutton Guardian:

Coming back to south east London, this is a popular attraction for people which boasts a vast range of facilities available to residents.

It’s located within Danson Park.

9. Tooting Bec Lido

Sutton Guardian:

This list would be incomplete without Tooting Bec Lido.

Wandsworth has one of the largest swimming pools, by area, in the UK at almost 92 metres in length and more than 30 metres in width.

Tooting Bec Lido is located within Tooting Bec Common.

10. Charlton Lido

Sutton Guardian:

Finally, to round off our list, Charlton Lido comes in at number 10.

This is a 50m outdoor heated pool which is consistently ranked among the best in the capital.

It’s in Shooters Hill Road in Hornfair Park.
