A truck-load of rubbish has been dumped in Nonsuch Park’s dog-free picnic area.
Richard Johnson, 47, an office manager in Worcester Park, was alerted by his neighbour yesterday morning that lorries carrying waste had arrived at Nonsuch Park’s Ewell entrance.
He said: “I walked to Nonsuch park myself and witnessed the aftermath of a great big pile of what looks like building waste.
“For all we know, it could be full of asbestos. It could be hazardous. It could be chemicals.
An Epsom and Ewell borough council spokesperson said: “This kind of waste is commonly associated with unauthorised encampments.
“We have served a court order on the encampment and they should have now left the site. They haven’t.
“We are currently organising the next stage of the process to evict the group.
“When the group has left and we have secured the site, we will then clear all the rubbish that has been left behind.”
Surrey Police has been contacted for more information.
