An annual celebration of food and drink held for one day only saw people flock to Cheam Park during the weekend.

Cheam Celebration Food and Drink, a free non-profit event, went ahead on September 16 – boasting more than 100 sellers on the day.

Beverage selections included craft beers, gin, cocktails, wines, prosecco, and champagne.

For food, there was a range of locally sourced cheese, breads, hams, chutneys, and other artisan products.

In addition, the free event saw a children’s assault course, an inflatable bungee run, soft play area, children’s arts and craft workshops, as well as a chili-eating competition.

Musicians and performers also took to the stage that day where a bandstand opened at 10am.

This involved the Shakeups play a mix of 1950s rock’n’roll followed by the Replays, who also played rocking music and specialise in authentic sounds from the Sixties.

In all, Cheam Celebration of Food and Drink went from 10am to 7pm in the evening.

The event was partnered with Sutton Soup, a crowdfunding event that is based around sharing a meal of homemade soup and bread.

Money is then raised for good causes and projects.

A date has also been set for next year, which will see the Cheam Celebration of Food and Drink return on September 15, 2019.
